State Management Plan
Current State Plan
· A Minnesota Management Plan for Invasive Species - 2022
The primary purpose of this voluntary plan is to provide a framework to coordinate and guide efforts to prevent the introduction, reduce the spread, and promote the management of invasive species within Minnesota.
The aspirational goals of this state plan are to prevent the introduction and establishment of new terrestrial and aquatic invasive species, contain existing populations of invasive species, and minimize the impacts of any remaining invasive species.
Many other invasive species plans exist at the national, regional, state, and local levels. This plan is intended to support and enhance those plans and not replace them.
From 2020‑2022, a MISAC subcommittee updated the previous state plan with input and review by MISAC membership, tribal representatives, and other invasive species partners.
Participants involved in implementing the plan may be any entity in the state willing to do so. Check out our "Guide for Partner Implementation of the Plan" and "2009-2022 Summary of Progress Toward Plan Implementation".
2023 Evaluation of Plan Implementation
In 2023, MISAC conducted the first-ever evaluation of implementation of the Minnesota Management Plan for Invasive Species. You can view the evaluation summary report and results here: Evaluation of Implementation of the “Minnesota Management Plan for Invasive Species” - 2023 Summary Report.
MISAC will continue to work to support implementation of the state plan.
Previous State Plan
The 2009 “A Minnesota State Management Plan for Invasive Species” was the first state plan developed by MISAC. It has been replaced by the current state plan.
